3 Needham police officers hospitalized for fentanyl exposure during investigation

SCENE RIGHT NOW. JOSH: IT ALL STARTED WITH A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE IN A PARKING AREA AT THE RESIDENCE INN. HAZMAT TEAM IS OVER THERE, TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON TO IT AT 1:30 THIS MORNING IN THE HOTEL PARKING LOT, THREE OFFICERS WERE TAKEN TO DEATH ISRAEL NEEDHAM FOR EXPOSE — TO BH ISRAEL NEEDHAM FOR EXPOSURE. THE THREE OFFICERS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. TWO PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED, A 31-YEAR-OLD AND FROM NORWOOD, A 28-YEAR-OLD WOMAN FROM WESTWOOD. THE POLICE CHIEF SPOKE A SHORT TIME AGO. >> WITH A SUBSTANCE LIKE THIS THAT IS SO DANGEROUS, AND THE EFFECT IT CAN HAVE IMMEDIATELY ON OFFICERS AND THE OTHER PEOPLE AROUND, WE TAKE THE GREATEST LEVEL OF PRECAUTION. JOSH: AS A MATTER OF FACT, THIS IS THE THIRD FRIDAY IN A ROW WHERE WE HAVE COVERED A SCENE THAT INVOLVED SUSPECTED FENTANYL. Three Needham police officers were hospitalized early Friday after being exposed to fentanyl. Officers were called to the Marriott Residence Inn parking lot on B Street, just off Route 128, to conduct a security check.Police said the officers encountered a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. During the investigation, police said the officers were exposed to fentanyl.The officers were taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Needham for observation.A 31-year-old Norwood man and a 28-year-old Westwood woman were arrested.The hazmat concern was contained to the vehicle, and hotel operations were not affected.

Three Needham police officers were hospitalized early Friday after being exposed to fentanyl.

Officers were called to the Marriott Residence Inn parking lot on B Street, just off Route 128, to conduct a security check.

Police said the officers encountered a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. During the investigation, police said the officers were exposed to fentanyl.
