Portland police said officers and state drug agents have arrested several people in an ongoing investigation into the sale of drugs in the city’s Bayside neighborhood.Portland police said they have targeted one building in particular on Oxford Street over the past three weeks.On June 20, police and state drug agents searched an apartment at 259 Oxford St. Police seized several guns and items “indicative of drug trafficking,” they wrote in a news release.On June 24, police arrested Alex Moustrouphis, 29, of Westbrook, after a traffic stop on Portland Street. Police said they found more than 100 grams of methamphetamine in the car, as well as $3,600 in cash.Moustrouphis was arrested on a charge of aggravated trafficking of schedule drugs. He has posted $5,000 bail.On July 3, police searched a different apartment at 259 Oxford St. There, they seized four ounces of crack cocaine and $4,100 in cash, they said.On Tuesday, police again were in the area of 259 Oxford St. and arrested two men. Officers also seized 11 grams of fentanyl and about $2,200 in cash, they said. Kevin Stichel, 30, of New York, was arrested on charges of trafficking in fentanyl and possession of methamphetamine pills.Orbria Turner, 46, of New Jersey, was charged with trafficking in fentanyl and violation of conditions of release. Both were being held Friday at the Cumberland County Jail.”These efforts by police are part of our continuing commitment to address drug trafficking in our neighborhoods,” Portland police said in a news release. “We are working closely with area residents and property owners to improve safety.”More charges are expected, police said.
