Lawrence man sent to prison for selling fentanyl across New England | News

CONCORD, N.H. — A 25-year-old Lawrence man will spend just over a year in prison for his role in a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy, according to federal officials.

Julio Pizzini was sentenced Tuesday, several months after pleading guilty to drug crimes.

According to court documents and statements made in court, investigators found that a drug trafficking organization led by Sergio Martinez employed Pizzini and others to sell fentanly to customers across New England.

On each day that Pizzini worked, the Martinez organization gave him at least 200 grams of fentanyl and expected him to sell it for roughly $6,000, investigators said.

“Fentanyl trafficking is a crime that has had deadly consequences for many citizens of New Hampshire,” said U.S. Attorney Murray. “The transportation of illegal drugs into the Granite State must be stopped. In order to save lives, we will continue to work closely with all of our law enforcement partners to identify, prosecute, and incarcerate those who are responsible for distributing this dangerous substance.”

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and state and local officials in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

This case was supported by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, a federal multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional task force that supplies supplemental federal funding to those involved in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of major drug trafficking organizations.
