AUBURN — State police stopped a man driving approximately 95 mph in a 65 mph zone on the Massachusetts Turnpike Wednesday, and ended up arresting him on multiple drug charges, including trafficking in fentanyl and heroin.
Trooper Mark Parr stopped a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by Nelson Gonzalez, 51, of Providence Rhode Island, on Interstate-90 eastbound in Auburn at about 7:30 p.m., according to a state police news release. Mr. Gonzalez didn’t have a valid driver’s license, police said.
During a vehicle inventory before towing, Trooper Parr allegedly found about 544 grams of a substance believed to be a mixture of heroin and fentanyl and approximately 35 grams of what was believed to be a mixture of fentanyl and lactose.
Mr. Gonzalez was arrested and booked on the following charges: trafficking in fentanyl; trafficking in heroin; possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance; conspiracy to violate a drug law; unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; and speeding.
Mr. Gonzalez, who had a child in the car with him when he was stopped, was also charged with child endangerment.
He was bailed on $50,000 pending his arraignment in Worcester’s Central District Court.
