12 Dec Quincy woman accused of selling cocaine, fentanyl – News – Wicked Local Quincy
QUINCY — Police arrested a woman who they say was selling cocaine and fentanyl in the Norfolk Downs neighborhood.
Michelle M. Mallon, 44, of Quincy, was charged with distribution of fentanyl, distribution of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine. The cocaine and crack cocaine offenses were charged as a subsequent offenses because she had a prior drug conviction in 2016. She was arraigned in Quincy District Court Tuesday and held on $1,000 bail. She is due back in court Jan. 4.
Police said they were doing surveillance in West Quincy Monday, and followed a car to Beach Street after they saw a man they thought was making a drug deal around 9 p.m. Police said the man picked up Mallon on Beach Street and took her for a short ride before returning her close to where she was picked up. Police then stopped the car and spoke to the driver because they suspected a drug deal took place. The man admitted to police that he had purchased one small knotted plastic bag of cocaine and two of a tan powdery substance he called “dope,” according to a police report filed with court. The bag with cocaine tested positive for that drug and fentanyl and the tan powder tested positive for fentanyl or methamphetamine police said.
Police said they stopped Mallon as she was walking and in a pat frisk found three bags of what police believe was crack cocaine and one bag of cocaine.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid 50 to 100 times more powerful than morphine. Quincy police detectives have said that fentanyl is overtaking heroin in popularity because it’s more potent. Police warn that fentanyl is also more likely than heroin to cause an overdose.
