Woodsboro man, 67, arrested on drug charges | Crime & justice

A 67-year-old Woodsboro man was arrested this week on drug charges after a multi-month investigation, according to a press release from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

Franklin Hart Corum Jr. is charged with possession of heroin, possession of fentanyl, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute heroin/fentanyl mixture, possession of paraphernalia, driving without a license and driving with a suspended license after sheriff’s deputies on the Proactive Criminal Enforcement Team — or PACE team — conducted a traffic stop on Corum, the release said.

A Maryland State Police dog conducted a scan of the vehicle, which resulted in an alert. Deputies searched the vehicle and found 94 caps of heroin and fentanyl, 11.1 grams of cocaine, 7.1 grams of marijuana and $393 in cash, according to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation of Corum began in the spring after a tip to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office that a person was selling heroin in the county.

On Wednesday, a detective with the narcotics section got a tip that Corum traveled to Baltimore to buy heroin. The PACE team conducted the traffic stop on the person’s vehicle in the Emmitsburg area for an expired vehicle registration, the sheriff’s office said.

He was ordered to be held without bail at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center in a court hearing Thursday, according to online court records.
