12 Apr 11 arrested in Worcester heroin/fentanyl bust
Eleven people were arrested following a major drug trafficking investigation in Worcester that led to the seizure of over 700 grams of heroin/fentanyl, Attorney General Maura Healey announced Thursday.
The investigation by local, state and federal law enforcement authorities spanned from the Bronx to Worcester, Healey said in a statement.
The charges resulted from a wiretap investigation involving various law enforcement agencies. Nine of the people arrested were from Worcester, one was from Spencer and one was from the Bronx, according to the statement.
Huascar Brito-Lavandier, 26, Emmanuel Vasquez, 21, Luis Alberto Ortega Conde, 28, all of Worcester, as well as Fulvio Valdez, 24, of Bronx, N.Y., were charged with trafficking 200 grams or more of heroin/fentanyl and conspiracy to violate drug laws, prosecutors said.
Jose Delorbehernandez, 38, of Worcester, was charged with trafficking 200 grams or more of heroin/fentanyl, trafficking 18 grams or more of cocaine, resisting arrest, and conspiracy to violate drug laws, according to the statement.
Ricardo Morales, 52, of Worcester, was charged with the distribution of heroin/fentanyl, prosecutors said.
Jorge Lopez-Rosario, 27, Joel Rosario, 28, both of Worcester, and Francisco Ortiz-Rivera, 38, of Spencer, were charged with trafficking 18 to 36 grams of heroin/fentanyl and conspiracy to violate drug laws, the statement said.
Jose Reyes, 38, of Worcester, was charged with trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl, unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and unlawful possession of ammunition, prosecutors said.
Victor Zeno, 25, of Worcester, was charged with trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl, according to the statement.
The defendants were arraigned in Worcester District Court. They are due back in court for a hearing at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing, prosecutors said.
