STOUGHTON, MA — A New Jersey man was arrested after a Stoughton police raid uncovered 3,0000 grams of fentanyl inside his storage unit, police said. Carlos Concepcion, 28, of Newark, N.J., was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, trafficking fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute class A and B, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and malicious damage over $250.

On Wednesady, police executed a search warrant at Extra Space Storage, located at 20 Washington St., after learning there may be drugs in one of the storage units. Police said they seized 69 grams of fentanyl from the first unit, along with drug packaging materials.

Then police brought a K-9 unit to the businesses to check on another storage unit. Officers got another warrant, searched the second storage unit, and found just under 3,000 grams of fentanyl, according to police. Police then set up surveillance in the area.

Around 7:40 p.m., officers saw a a black Dodge Durango driven by Concepcion pull up. Police said they watched as Concepcion get out of the car and head towards the second storage unit.

“He (Concepcion) opened the door to the unit and noticed it had been emptied,” Stoughton police said in a statement. “A copy of the search warrant had been left inside the unit. A Detective was in the unit and made himself known.”

Concepcion closed the door and rushed to his car, but was surrounded by police cruisers at this point. Police said Concepcion stopped his car initially, but then rammed a cruiser in an attempt to evade arrest. Concepcion was taken into custody, and police said they found an additional three bags of fentanyl in his pocket.

Concepcion was held at the Stoughton Police Department on $500,000 bail. He is expected to be arraigned Friday in Stoughton District Court.
