Alleged Heroin, Fentanyl Operation Busted near School

drug arrest 02 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (5/10/19) — A federal fugitive apprehension operation was successful yesterday in Owensboro and also netted arrests for apparent drug trafficking near a school.

Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and the Owensboro-based U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force went to 521 West Byers Avenue at 9 a.m. Thursday seeking 41-year-old Michael Green and Jazzman Warren, 34, on federal indictments warrants for trafficking in heroin and Fentanyl.

Both were located inside the residence and taken into custody.

While inside the home, authorities saw heroin, Fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and other items that indicated a drug trafficking operation, said a DCSO spokesman. After obtaining a search warrant, Owensboro Police Street Crimes Unit assisted in locating the drugs and paraphernalia.

A third man at the residence, 24-year-old Nicholas Nies was taken into custody on Kentucky warrants charging unlawful transaction with a minor/felony, first-degree possession of a controlled substance – first offense, trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All three are being held in the Daviess County Detention Center.

Due to the proximity of the residence to Newton Parrish Elementary School and a daycare at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church, lockdown protocols were engaged at the facilities. Due to the presence of Fentanyl, Yellow Ambulance was also staged in the area and assisted in the operation.
