CHILLICOTHE – Alvis House was evacuated on Friday after a pair of ambulances were requested to respond to a possible overdose around 12:30 p.m.

A staff member and a resident of the halfway house had returned from an appointment when both “got sick,” according to Gloria Iannucci, Alvis’ director of communications.

“We called the squad because that usually doesn’t happen.” she added.

Both were treated and released from the hospital, but officials have yet to determine what made them ill, Iannucci said.

“We evacuated the facility per our protocol (and) went through the facility to make sure there wasn’t anything dangerous … Nothing was found and we’ve since returned to normal operations,” Iannucci said, noting they were appreciative of local law enforcement’s assistance.

The Alvis House is located in the Terry Collins Reentry Center on Ohio 104 along with other criminal justice offices including the Adult Parole Authority and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office’s day reporting program. The center is the former honor dorm at Ross Correctional Institution which had 29 employees and one inmate impacted due to a fentanyl exposure incident in August.
