Authorities continue probe after Kinderhook drug bust

KINDERHOOK — Arrests in the past week in this town have authorities digging deeper in light of recent drug overdoses in the area.

Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett said three people were arrested for their involvement into illegal drug activity after a search warrant was used at room #18 in the Blue Spruce Inn and Suites, on Route 9 in Kinderhook on Monday, June 24. The warrant was the result of a three-month investigation.

Senior Investigator William Foster encountered a man outside of the room, who tried to flee through the parking lot and resist arrest as he tried to ditch the drugs he was carrying, officials said. Nine grams of powdered heroin were recovered, which can be packaged into bags equivalent to more than 100 individual doses. The powdered heroin was field tested and found to be laced with fentanyl. Two prepackaged bundles (20 doses) were also recovered, the sheriff said.

Forty-five grams of crack cocaine were seized, along with scales and packaging material used to process and package heroin and crack. About $6,000 in cash was seized.

Devon C. Sisnett, 31, of Route 9 Kinderhook, was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance charges and possession with intent to sell, as well as tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, then arraigned and jailed on $25,000 bail, scheduled back in court at a later date, police said.

A Germantown woman, 24, and a Hudson woman face misdemeanor drug charges and are due in court July 9.

“Due to recent drug overdoses, this investigation is continuing,” Bartlett said in a statement. “Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement and Education Unit are looking into the stamps or markings and the packaging material to see if they can be linked to those overdoses in this area.”

Anyone with any information about illegal activity can call the Sheriff’s Office tips line at 518-822-8477 and can remain anonymous.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, Capital District Drug Enforcement Task Force and Watervliet police.
