Binghamton man jailed after heroin, fentanyl, stolen gun found in raid

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — A Binghamton man is facing numerous felony charges after the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed a narcotics search warrant on the city’s south side.

Police say when the home at 77 Mary Street was searched on Friday, officers seized:

  • 4.1 grams of fentanyl
  • A small quantity of heroin
  • 2.5 grams of cocaine
  • A stolen 9 mm hand gun
  • 9 mm ammunition
  • Illegally-possessed prescription pills
  • Drug packaging materials
  • $1,766 in suspected drug sale proceeds

According to police, 44-year-old Marvin Smith was arrested and charged with:

  • Five counts, criminal possession of a controlled substance, third degree (intent to sell), class B felony
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth degree (more than 1/8 ounce), class B felony
  • Criminal possession of a weapon, second degree (loaded weapon), class C felony
  • Criminal possession of a weapon, third degree (previous conviction), class C felony
  • Criminal possession of stolen property, fourth degree (stolen firearm), class E felony
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh degree, misdemeanor
  • Two counts, criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor

Police say Smith was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and sent to the Broome County Jail.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force includes members of the City of Binghamton Police Department, Broome County Sheriff’s Office, the Village of Endicott Police Department and the Village of Johnson City Police Department. The Task Force was assisted by the Binghamton Police Patrol Division and Community Response Team (CRT).
