PLAINVILLE — A Bristol man faces charges after police said he was found with 111 bags of fentanyl along with crack cocaine and marijuana during a traffic stop early Monday.

Nicholas Pugh-Williams, 27, of 403 West St., Bristol, was arrested on Monday and charged with possession with intent to sell fentanyl, possession with intent to sell crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, and operation while under suspension.

On Monday just before 1 a.m. an officer on patrol near Grove Street saw a vehicle parked with the engine running and headlights on, according to police reports. Police checked the registration and determined the owner lived in Southington, the report said. The officer pulled over and approached the vehicle, identifying the driver and only occupant as Pugh-Williams. While speaking with Pugh-Williams, the officer noticed a razor blade and what appeared to be a small marijuana roach in the front center ashtray, the report said. The officer asked Pugh-Williams to step out of the vehicle and Pugh-Williams allowed the officer to search the vehicle, the report said.

The officer found a backpack containing a total of 111 wax fold baggies with a total of 25.5 grams of fentanyl, along with 5.1 grams of marijuana, and 7 grams of crack cocaine. Pugh-Williams had $356 cash in small bills in his pants pocket, the report also noted. Pugh-Williams was taken into custody and admitted buying the drugs in Hartford with the intent to sell them for money to get his license restored, due to it currently being suspended, the report stated. Police noted that during the booking process Pugh-Williams’ cellphone continuously rang and one text message asked if he was “around for a sale,” the report noted.

Pugh-Williams was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on Monday. According to statements in court, he has previous convictions for possession of a controlled substance and failure to appear in court. The judge set bond at $150,000 and continued the case to Jan. 25.
