A Buffalo man who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and the distribution of 400 grams or more of fentanyl, was sentenced Tuesday in federal court to serve 235 months in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said that between July 2013 and May 2015, Calvin Elston, 41, conspired with several other people – including a former nurse practitioner – to distribute fentanyl, oxymorphone, oxycodone and amphetamines.

Over the course of the conspiracy, Elston obtained prescriptions in his own name and those of others, and recruited others who would agree to go to pharmacies to submit fraudulently obtained prescriptions, prosecutors said.

A total of 10 people have been convicted and sentenced in the case, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
