03 Jan Car with 3 dozen bullet holes, blood smear left in Jacksonville neighborhood
A car riddled with three dozen bullet holes and smeared with blood was left behind in a Jacksonville neighborhood after a shootout.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said at least two known gang members were involved in Tuesday night’s shooting on Martin Luther King Drive in Lincoln Hills.
A JSO spokesperson said one of them was shot in the leg, just above his ankle monitor.
JSO’s incident report said that man was Comfort Harris, who just got out of jail about two weeks ago.
Court records show Harris was arrested on charges of fentanyl trafficking, cannabis possession and resisting an officer.
Police are still looking for a white van connected to Tuesday’s shootout.
“I just thought it was a war zone, so much was going on. So many bullets were just going off,” said neighbor Carol Mobley.

Mobley and other neighbors pointed Action News Jax toward a white Nissan Altima in a driveway, which had three dozen bullet holes in the windshield and the driver’s side of the car.
There was a smear of blood under the passenger front door and more blood on the sidewalk nearby.
Neighbors said no one stays in the house it’s parked in front of.
There was a rental car agreement on the windshield.
Action News Jax called ACE Rent a Car General Manager David Cook, who said he had no idea the car was connected to a crime.
“I’m very surprised. I’m surprised that either JSO or the customer did not reach out to us,” said Cook.
Cook reached out to JSO, and officers came back out.
They gave him approval to tow the car.
