CBP officers arrest two U.S. citizens and seize $1.2 million of drugs at Port of San Luis

TUCSON, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested two U.S. citizens and seized nearly $1.2 million of drugs at the Port of San Luis over the weekend.

According to the agency, officers stopped a 23-year-old Yuma resident who was driving a Honda sedan attempting to enter the U.S. Friday morning. CBP canine detected the drugs coming from the vehicle doors and quarter panels. Officers discovered 80 packages of drugs that weighed over 86 pounds.

In a separate incident, officers stopped a 20-year-old Mesa woman who was driving a Honda sedan attempting to enter the U.S. Saturday morning. A canine detected the drugs in the trunk and rear quarter panels. Officers found nearly 70 packages of drugs. Officers removed close to two pounds of fentanyl, and more than 23 pounds of methamphetamine.

Officers stopped a 30-year-old Mexican woman who was driving a Honda van attempting to enter the U.S., later, Saturday evening. A canine discovered the drugs hidden in the van. Officers removed close to 55 pounds of methamphetamine, 26 pounds of cocaine, and nearly two-and-a-half pounds of heroin.

Officers seized the drugs and vehicles, then turned over the individuals to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
