22 May Cop sickened after fentanyl exposure
OLD SAYBROOK – One officer was sickened after being exposed to fentanyl while investigating a report of a suspicious person Tuesday morning, according to WFSB.
The officer was involved in a vehicle search when the wind blew bags of fentanyl in into his face, reports said. The officer immediately became ill and was brought to Middlesex Medical Center Shoreline to be treated, police said. He is expected to recover, WFSB said.
The officer was searching a car driven by Stephen Allen Johnson after police received a report of a suspicious person at Walt’s Market on Main Street, WFSB said. Johnson was carrying drug paraphernalia so officers called in a K-9 unit to search his car. Johnson is facing narcotics charges in connection with the incident.
