Deputies arrest man stopped with fentanyl patches at Rath Building who tried to flee – The Buffalo News

A Buffalo man tried to flee but was then arrested Wednesday after Erie County sheriff’s deputies stopped him at a Rath Building entrance with four packages of fentanyl patches, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Carl Korzkowski, 41, tried to enter the building at the Department of Social Services entrance on Pearl Street at about 10:16 a.m. but failed to clear the metal detector. A deputy used a handheld detector that sensed a metal object in a pocket. Officials said the deputy found fentanyl patches on Korzkowski, who then ran along Pearl Street.

Sheriff’s officials said he “struggled, refused commands and resisted arrest” before being taken into custody.

He was charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and later released.
