MANCHESTER, Tenn. – Law enforcement at Bonnaroo have issued at least 50 citations and made at least three arrests since the festival opened the gates to its grounds on Wednesday, officials said.

But so far, officials said Thursday, no major arrests have taken place at Great Stage Park and no fentanyl-laced drugs have been spotted.

Coffee County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Billy Butler said the citations were mostly for minor drug offenses — a majority made while attendees made their way into the venue.

In a statement released Thursday, Bonnaroo organizers said entry-related searches have increased on The Farm this year.

“We have several enhanced security measures in place this year, including expanded car searches and canine patrols. We are hopeful that our patrons will appreciate these security measures and have patience with the inevitable inconveniences.”

3 arrested for intoxication, possession

Authorities arrested three people for charges including public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance.

“We’re not seeing any fentanyl that we can tell,” Butler said. “Of course we’ll send some of it off to the lab for testing.”

Authorities also made a fourth arrest but it was unrelated to Bonnaroo, both Butler and Bonnaroo organizers said Thursday.

Manchester police charged a man for possessing explosive devices after two pipe bombs were found in the city this week. Justin McCart, 29, of Shelton Road in Manchester was arrested late Wednesday night in connection to the Wednesday morning incident on Walker Street.

As of Thursday afternoon, no major fire-related incidents had been reported.

Bonnaroo announced late Wednesday night that the festival is sold out.

Earlier in the week organizers confirmed the festival was sure to sell out. With 80,000 attendees, it’s the festival’s first sellout since 2013, when Beatles great Paul McCartney headlined.

This year’s Bonnaroo, which runs through Sunday, is headlined by Phish, Childish Gambino and Post Malone, but co-founder Ashley Capps said the festival was seeing an uptick in sales before the lineup was even announced.
