Fans and artists are remembering a legend
Fans from around the world are remembering Prince today on the third anniversary of his death.
Prince died at the age of 57, when he was found alone and unresponsive in his Paisley Park estate on April 21 in 2016.
Shortly after his death, it was confirmed that he died from an opioid overdose. The star was found to have fentanyl in his system – which is 50 times more powerful than heroin.
Today, people have been paying tribute to the late star. One fan wrote on Twitter: “Three years since Prince died…whilst time may fly, his music will last forever.”
Another said: “Thank you for the amazing music you made, your memory will live forever.” You can read a selection of the tributes here:
As Variety reported, Universal Pictures has confirmed a deal with the music icon’s estate, although it won’t be a biopic of his life in the vein of recent releases such as Bohemian Rhapsody.
Instead, the film will focus on an original story that uses Prince’s songs to drive forward to the plot. The original idea was reportedly formulated by Prince’s estate and Universal after they agreed that a biopic had largely been covered by Prince’s 1984 movie Purple Rain.
