29 Dec Fentanyl found in Xanax, Delta warns against using drugs alone
DELTA (NEWS 1130) — The City of Delta is warning people not to use drugs alone after potentially deadly levels of fentanyl were found in substances that were not expected to contain opioids, including Xanax.
People have apparently been using pill presses to create fake Xanax and other drugs which, in some cases, contain fentanyl. That substance is fatal and even a small dose can kill.

Now the city is asking drug users to take extra precautions and to not use drugs alone as a precaution. At the very least, they are recommending that you have someone around check on you.
The city also recommends testing a small amount and go slowly for people who are using drugs, and to not mix drugs with alcohol or other drugs.

Tips from the City of Delta
- Where possible, don’t use alone
- If you do use alone, make a plan to have someone check on you who is prepared to call 9-1-1, give breaths and naloxone
- Stagger use with friends so someone can respond if needed
- Test by using smaller amounts first and go slowly
- Do not use with alcohol or other drugs
- Provide breaths (every 5 seconds until the person regains consciousness or help arrives)
- Call 911 quickly when you notice something isn’t right – the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act ensures you should not be charged with simple possession (possession for personal use), breach of probation or parole
