FRONT ROYAL – A grand jury indicted a Warren County woman Monday on charges of child endangerment and possession of methadone.

Sarah Gladys Moon, 37, of Linden, remains held without bond at Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail.

Warren County Sheriff’s Office Deputy B.M. Hager arrived at Moon’s residence on Jan. 3 to investigate a report of a cardiac arrest, a criminal complaint states. An 8-year-old child led the deputy toward his mother lying unresponsive on the floor by the back door, the complaint states. Other children were in the room. The deputy began performing chest compressions on the woman, the complaint states. Another deputy on the scene administered two doses of Narcan, a drug used to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses. Hager states he identified the female as Moon by asking one of her children. An emergency crew took Moon to Warren Memorial Hospital.

Hager states he spoke to the three children, all under the age of 10.

“They stated their mom fell down and stopped breathing,” Hager states.

The Department of Social Services was contacted and found a family member to pick up the children. Moon admitted to taking drugs while at home with the children, the complaint states.
