Three students at a southwest Arizona high school were arrested on suspicion of drug possession, including more than 3,000 fentanyl pills found with one teen, according to police in San Luis.

Around 9:24 a.m. Wednesday morning, school resource officers at San Luis High School arrested two 18-year-old female students and one 16-year-old male, police said.

Noemi Hernandez-Madrigal, 18, is suspected of having three separate plastic zip-lock bags containing more than 3,200 pills, described as M30 pills, showing the presence of fentanyl, police said.

A second high school student, Alessandra Cardenas-Hernandez, 18, was in the possession of drug paraphernalia, a narcotic drug, and illegal drugs in a drug-free school zone, police said. The third suspect was a 16-year-old male who was arrested for the same charges, according to San Luis police department. 

The fentanyl came to a total weight of 373 grams, according to police. 

Hernandez-Madrigal and Cardenas-Hernandez of San Luis, Arizona were both booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Facility for felony charges, the 16-year-old male was also booked for felony charges into the Yuma County Juvenile Center, according to the the San Luis police department media release.

San Luis is located south of Yuma, at Arizona’s border with Mexico.
