03 Jan London police arrest two in city’s biggest-ever fentanyl bust
London police have made the largest seizure of the hyper-potent opioid fentanyl in city history, taking more than $295,000 of the oft-deadly drug off the streets.
Members of the police guns and drugs section seized powdered fentanyl along with two naloxone kits – an overdose antidote that blocks the effects of the drug – along with $3,650 worth of cocaine and $13,000 in cash during a search of a home on Castlegrove Boulevard in the city’s west end Wednesday night.
Officers also seized two digital scales in the raid.

Police went to the home after officers witnessed suspicious activity, believed to be a drug deal by a man in a rental vehicle, near Oxford Street East and Adelaide Street at about 8 p.m.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested without incident. Police searched the vehicle and recovered drugs and cash.
Police then went to the Castlegrove Boulevard home, near Sarnia Road and Wonderland Road, and found a woman inside.
Police have charged Daniel John McLeod, 43, and Emily Victoria Botsford, 30, both of London, with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance – a legal classification that includes narcotics including morphine, fentanyl and cocaine – for the purpose of trafficking.
They were expected to appear in court Thursday.
Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid painkiller 100 times more potent than morphine, has been implicated in a growing number of overdose deaths across Canada in recent years.
