Man faces drug and firearm charges

Brantford police released an image of a semi-automatic handgun they recovered on Friday.

A 22-year-old Bradford, Ont., man is facing drug and firearm charges after Brantford police found a vehicle reported stolen on Friday.

Police said the man is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking crack cocaine, cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and Percocet.

He is also charged with careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of prohibited ammunition, possession of restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of possession of a frearm contrary to a court order and breach of probation.

Police said the owner of a vehicle lent it to an acquaintance who did not return it on time. Police stopped the vehicle on King Street. The male driver and a second person in the vehicle fled. The driver was found nearby at a local business.

Police said they recovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the bathroom of the business.

They also seized a large amount of money and a knife.

Inside the vehicle, police found a backpack that contained a large amount of drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs including crack cocaine with a street value $1,140.00, methamphetamine valued at $4,900, fentanyl powder valued at $15,500, cocaine valued at $4,900 and Percocet pills valued at $30.
