Methamphetamine and fentanyl-laced heroin were found Friday while arresting a suspected Ventura drug dealer, authorities said.

Ventura police said they stopped the suspect, identified as Ernesto Macias, while he was driving about noon near Ralston Street and Johnson Drive. Macias, 48, was suspected of selling meth and heroin in Ventura County, police said.

His vehicle was searched during the traffic stop and officers found an ounce of heroin, later found to be laced with the synthetic opiate fentanyl, authorities said. Cash from suspected drug sales was also found, authorities said.

As part of the larger investigation into Macias, his other vehicles and his home in the 6000 block of Whipporwill Street were searched pursuant to warrants, police said. In total, more than a pound of meth, half of a pound of fentanyl-laced heroin and $1,000 in suspected drug money was recovered, police said.

Macias was arrested and booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of possession of meth and heroin for sales and transportation of narcotics for sales, authorities said.
