Montreal police bust drug trafficking ring, seize 205 grams of fentanyl-laced heroin

Montreal police have announced they’ve made three arrests in a drug bust that included four raids of a local heroin trafficking ring.

The first raid, from November 2018, saw a bust of over 200 grams of heroin seized by authorities. Analysis of the drug found that it had been mixed with fentanyl, according to the police statement.

Upon further investigation, three more raids were carried out on January 31 in Montreal and Laval.

In total, police seized:

• Close to $75,000 in cash
• 1,002 grams of cocaine
• 205 grams of fentanyl-laced heroin
• Hydromorphone capsules
• 107 oxycodone tablets
• One money counter
• One cell phone
• A cocaine testing kit

Steve Hilaire, 44, Carlo Grassetti, 31, and Caroline Huot, 32 were arrested and charged with possession of narcotics with intent to traffic.

Montreal police ended the statement by reminding the public that fentanyl is extremely powerful and has been linked to numerous overdoses.

Traffickers use the opioid to cut drugs at a minimal cost.
