An update on a late February motor vehicle collision and the subsequent investigation that has led North Bay Police Service to lay charges beyond the scope of the collision itself.

The crash resulted in Pinewood Park Drive being closed for several hours and motorists attempting to access Callander and beyond were forced to detour using Lake Nosbonsing Road as police investigated the two-vehicle February 27.

Police say during the course of the investigation, a search of the accused’s vehicle resulted in the seizure of 85.1 grams of Purple Fentanyl valued at $42,500 and $3,145 in Canadian currency.

NBPS says its investigation has led to several criminal charges against one of the drivers, a 27-year-old man from North Bay:

  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Drug
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired Causing Bodily Harm
  • Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Substance

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation and Reconstruction Unit assisted with the investigation of the collision scene.

The accused is still in the care of a medical facility due to injuries sustained from the collision.

The driver of the other vehicle has been released from medical care.

The accused will make an appearance in the North Bay Courthouse in June.
