NEW BEDFORD — One fentanyl trafficking suspect was ordered held without bail and a co-defendant is being held for a dangerousness hearing on Tuesday, according to court documents.

Robinson Paradisfeliz, 44, of 800 West St., Braintree, was ordered held without bail after a dangerousness hearing Friday in New Bedford District Court, court records say. Judge James McGovern found Paradisfeliz dangerous.

He will now be held for four months at the Bristol County House of Correction, Dartmouth, as he awaits trial as a result of the finding in the pre-trial detention hearing. His case is continued until Aug. 13 in New Bedford District Court.

Paradisfeliz’s girlfriend and co-defendant, Luz M. Caban, 60, of the same Braintree address, is scheduled to have a dangerousness hearing Tuesday in New Bedford District Court, according to court records. She is being held at the Bristol County House of Correction awaiting the hearing.

Both Paradisfeliz and Caban are charged with trafficking fentanyl more than 10 grams and conspiracy to violate the drug laws, police said.

Paradisfeliz is charged with operating a fentanyl delivery service in New Bedford, based on information from a confidential and reliable informant for the New Bedford Police Department’s narcotics unit, the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau, according to court records. The informant said Paradisfeliz makes fentanyl deliveries during the afternoon hours in the area of Adams Street in the city’s North End.

After receiving specific information from the source that Paradisfeliz would be making a delivery about 4 p.m. Thursday, detectives set-up surveillance in the area of Adams Street, court records say, Detectives then stopped the car and removed Paradisfeliz and Caban from the vehicle.

As Caban turned her body to the center console, detectives breached the car window and secured Caban, fearing she was reaching for a weapon, court records say. Police found 493.1 grams of fentanyl in the car.

Police seized $28 from Caban and $5 from Paradisfeliz, court records said.
