PLYMOUTH — A New Bedford man pleaded guilty to drug dealing charges and was sentenced to four years in state prison, the Plymouth County DA’s office said.

Jakeem Finley, 23, entered the plea late Thursday afternoon in Superior Court to one count each of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine, all subsequent offenses, according to a news release from Beth Stone, a spokeswoman for Plymouth County DA Timothy J. Cruz. Judge Thomas Perrino imposed the sentence of four years to four years and a day.

In October and November, 2017, the Old Colony Anti-Crime Police Task Force and Kingston police received information and investigated the distribution of fentanyl in the Plymouth and Kingston areas, according to Stone. The probe identified Finley as a distributor of the drugs out of an apartment at 33 Anderson Ave., Kingston.

Finley was arrested at a gas station in Carver on Nov. 27, 2017, and police executed a court-authorized search of the apartment, she said. Police found several large knotted plastic bags containing fentanyl, weighing about 118 grams and belonging to Finley; as well as digital scales, packaging materials and cash.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brian Fahy and was investigated by the Old Colony Anti-Crime Police Task Force and Kingston Police, Stone said.

The case of co-defendant, Edgardo Ramos, is currently pending in the Plymouth Superior Court, she said.
