29 Apr New York men charged with trafficking fentanyl in Vermont
MANCHESTER, Vt. – Two New York men are facing drug charges, after Vermont State Police stopped to check on a disabled vehicle Saturday evening.
Troopers spotted the car on Rt. 7 in Manchester and suspected criminal activity which led to a search of the car.
During their search, police found 33 grams of raw fentanyl, 68 grams of crack cocaine and six baggies of an unknown substance. Police say a juvenile was also in the car.
Samuel McCants, 34, of Catskill, NY and Richard Rivera, 47, of Freehold, NY were charged with trafficking fentanyl into Vermont, trafficking crack cocaine and reckless endangerment.
Both men are being held at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail and are scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
