11 May Police: Drunk Danielson man with Fentanyl fights with officer – News – The Bulletin
PLAINFIELD – A Plainfield traffic stop early Saturday devolved into a struggle between an officer and a Danielson man later charged with drug possession, police said.
At approximately 12:23 a.m. a Plainfield police patrol officer stopped a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed south on Norwich Road after the vehicle illegally passed the police cruiser.
Police said the driver, 39-year-old Richard Hall of Taft Street, exited his vehicle “screaming at the officer and approaching the cruiser in an aggressive manner.” After Hall refused the officer’s order to get back in his car and he continued to approach the officer, a struggle ensued, police said.
Police said Hall was taken to the ground in the opposing lane of traffic and continued to actively resist before being taken into custody. A search of Hall turned up 10 packages of Fentanyl and a search of Hall’s car found several open partially-consumed containers of alcohol, police said.
Hall was charged with interfering with an officer, driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, possession of narcotics, passing in a no-passing zone and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. He was released on a $5,000 bond pending his arraignment on May 28 in Danielson Superior Court.
