Police: Man arrested for selling a man the fentanyl-laced drugs that killed him

YAKIMA, Wash. – Police have arrested a man accused of dealing the fentanyl-laced drugs that led to a 36-year-old Yakima man’s fatal overdose in 2017.

Reymond Linder, 22, appeared Wednesday in Yakima County Superior Court on suspicion of controlled substance homicide and possession of a controlled substance.

Yakima police say Linder sold the victim Oxycodone and Xanax pills the morning before Dec. 12, 2017 — the day he died of a fentanyl overdose. 

According to court documents, the victim exchanged text messages with Linder and others where he discussed buying the drugs and specifically mentioned he’d bought them from Linder. 

Witnesses also told police the victim had to be revived with Narcan the previous summer after overdosing on Percocet he purchased from Linder, according to court documents. 

The victim’s girlfriend told police the victim had overdosed Dec. 11, 2017 — the day before he died — and she’d had to take him to the hospital for treatment.

The woman told police she and the victim were supposed to have lunch earlier that day and when he didn’t show up, she rushed home, worried that something had happened to him.

When she got home, she told police she watched her boyfriend throw up pink-colored vomit and called a friend to help get him to the hospital.

The woman told police Linder came to their home later that night to show the victim a semi-automatic pistol he’d recently acquired. She said Linder only stayed for about five minutes before taking off and that she didn’t see any money or drugs exchanged.

The woman said she and the victim spent the next few hours talking about his addiction and their relationship. She said he apologized for lying to her about the addiction in recent months.

But when she asked him to go to treatment, he said it wasn’t a good time and that he would quit on his own, according to court documents.

The woman told police she fell asleep, woke up to her alarm and found the victim dead on the couch.

Linder is being held in the Yakima County jail in lieu of $40,000 bail.
