05 Mar Police: Marion Heights man found with 92 bags of Fentanyl | Local
SHAMOKIN — A Marion Heights man has been charged with a felony count of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance after being found with 92 bags of a white powder that police say tested positive for Fentanyl.
David Paul Klinger, 54, was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Shane Mowery after an incident at 12:42 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Race and Cherry Streets in the city.
Klinger has also been charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest and public drunkenness relating to the incident.
According to court documents, officers made contact with Klinger while he was standing near the trunk of a vehicle and was placing clothes into a garbage bag. Klinger told police he did not know who owned the vehicle.
Officers were then notified that Klinger had active warrants from Schuylkill County and, while attempting to place him in custody, he attempted to pull away and continued to struggle while in handcuffs, police said.
Police then found the bags of white powder, which tested positive on a field test for Fentanyl, court documents show.
Police said a witness informed them that prior to their arrival, Klinger was throwing clothes out of the vehicle and into the street and then began ripping the vehicle apart.
Officers observed the rear driver side seat dislodged from its framing and some tools on the rear driver side floor.
Klinger was arraigned Monday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic and remanded to the Northumberland County Jail on $75,000 cash bail.
