Preliminary hearings scheduled for suspects in narcotics investigation – News – The Daily Jeffersonian

Preliminary hearings for two northern Ohio residents facing felony, drug-related charges have been scheduled for May 2 in the Cambridge Municipal Court.

Goldie D. Flint, 29, and Marcus L. Nixon, 38, both of Akron, face single counts of aggravated possession of drugs, second-degree felonies. They remained incarcerated in the Guernsey County Jail as of press time.

Bond for Flint was set at $75,000 with no 10 percent allowed during a hearing Friday in municipal court. She also plead not guilty to the lone felony charge.

Nixon remained incarcerated on a $95,000 bond with no 10 percent allowed following his initial hearing. He also plead not guilty to the drug possession charge.

Flint and Nixon were arrested Wednesday morning during a traffic stop on Interstate 77.

Deputies reportedly located suspected methamphetamine, an unknown white powder believed to be Fentanyl and pressed pills also believed to be Fentanyl, along with with drug paraphernalia items and more than $1,000 in cash in the vehicle occupied by Flint and Nixon.

The suspected narcotics were sent to the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force lab for testing.

According to reports, Deputy Garrett Frederici was on criminal patrol at approximately 12:57 a.m. Wednesday when he observed a defect on a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 77. A traffic stop was initiated near mile post 46.

During the course of his investigation, Deputy Frederici discovered Flint and Nixon both had suspended driver’s licenses.

During an administrative inventory of the vehicle prior to it being towed, Deputy Frederici reportedly located the suspected drugs, paraphernalia and cash. All of the items were seized as evidence.

The incident remained under investigation by the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office.
