28 Dec Providence man arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs with child in car
State Police arrested a Providence man on child endangerment and drug charges Wednesday night after a trooper pulled him over on the Massachusetts Turnpike and found in his car substances believed to be fentanyl and heroin, along with a child, State Police said Friday.
Nelson Gonzalez, 51, was charged with trafficking fentanyl, trafficking heroin, possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance, conspiracy to violate drug law, child endangerment, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding, State Police said in a statement.
Gonzalez was allegedly driving at 95 miles per hour in a 65 mile-per-hour zone in Auburn when he was pulled over about 7:30 p.m., State Police said.
Gonzalez did not have a valid driver’s license, State Police said.
While searching the car, the trooper found a bag that allegedly contained about 544 grams of what is believed to be a mix of heroin and fentanyl, as well as a bag that allegedly contained about 35 grams of what is believed to be a mix of fentanyl and lactose, State Police said.
Gonzalez was released on $50,000 bail pending his arraignment in Worcester District Court, State Police said.
