25 Jun Severn man indicted on gun, drugs charges after police search warrant
A Severn man has been indicted on gun and drug charges after a police raid of his residence yielded a haul of drugs, paraphernalia, cell phones, a gun and ammunition.
Joshua Joseph Warren, 34, of the 8000 block of Stewarton Court, has been charged with two counts of possessing a firearm despite having been convicted of a felony and one count each illegally possessing a handgun and using a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, according to electronic court records.
Police arrested Warren May 22 after raiding his residence. He is being held without bail at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on Jennifer Road. Warren does not have an attorney listed in court records.
Warren has also been charged with various drug charges including two counts each possession with intent to distribute heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, Clonazepam — a benzodiazepine commonly known by the brand name Klonopin — and one count of intention to distribute a heroin-fentanyl mix, according to an indictment handed up from by an Anne Arundel County Grand Jury Friday.
After obtaining a warrant a day earlier, county police’s Quick Response Team conducted a “no knock” search, bursting through the front door of Warren’s residence before 5 a.m. May 22, police wrote in charging documents.
When they entered, police said, they saw Warren run to the upstairs bathroom, close the door and heard the toilet flushing. When quick response officers entered the bathroom, police wrote, Warren lunged and the officers kicked him into the shower.
Officers detained Warren and two others present at the home, charging documents detail. Paramedics treated Warren for cuts on his legs after officers knocked him into the shower area, police wrote.
Upon searching, officers found a pyrex container with cocaine, various spoons and knives with cocaine residue, some empty plastic baggies, others filled with crack cocaine and a digital scale, police wrote. Along with bags of pills and heroin, they also found close to $1,000 in cash and at least seven mobile phones.

Officers also retrieved a Glock 21C handgun with loaded magazine in a dresser drawer, court records show. They found more 9mm bullets in a coat pocket elsewhere in the residence.
County detectives contact the Maryland Gun Center upon retrieving the firearm, according to charging documents. Investigators with that division of Maryland State Police looked into the gun.
Police regularly contact the gun center when they retrieve a gun from the streets. A gun center investigator checks various federal and state databases to see if the person who was caught with the gun is prohibited from possessing one and, if the serial number is in tact, whether the gun was reported stolen. Investigators then recommend charges.
In this case, gun center investigators found that Warren had no gun registered to him, police wrote. Investigators also found he’s prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition because of previous criminal convictions: possession with intent to distribute, attempted armed robbery, distributing drugs and robbery.
