29 Apr ‘Significant’ amount of Donkey Kong drug linked to Carson Price’s death seized by police
Police have seized a “significant” amount of Donkey Kong pills which have been linked to the death of a thirteen-year-old boy.
On Friday, April 12, 13-year-old Carson Price was discovered unconscious in Ystrad Mynach Park on Caerphilly Road and was pronounced dead the same day.
Police believe he may have taken what is know as “Donkey Kong pills”.
South Wales Police said on Saturday that a 20-year-old man from Barry has been charged in connection with Donkey Kong tablets.

On Friday he was has been charged with possession with intent to supply MDMA (Ecstasy) and “acquire/use/possess criminal property”.
Iannucci, of Phyllis Street, Barry, appeared before Cardiff Magistrates Court on Saturday.
The case was sent to Cardiff Crown Court to be heard on May 24.
A sample of the seized tablets have now been tested at a forensic laboratory.
A police statement said: “As always, we remind everyone of the devastating consequences that drugs can have and would ask parents to speak to their children.”
Following the seizure South Wales Police divisional commander Alun Morgan said: “We’ve all seen the effects of this dreadful tablet recently.”
Carson Price’s mum Tatum spoke recently of her grief after the death of her son Carson Price and how she wants to stop children from taking drugs.
His parents said the circumstances of his death have been all the more shocking not only because he seemed too young to be taking drugs but because they are teetotal.
Tatum said: “There’s always going to be naive children out there that are going to think ‘I’ll be OK if I take it’ and we need to educate them that that’s not going to happen.
“I know there’s always going to be drugs out there but we need to stop these kids. We need to protect our little ones and we’ve got to get people talking and raising awareness about this because this is going on in our small communities.”

Donkey Kong pills are believed to contain the drug MDMA (short for 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) – and better known as ecstasy.
The effects of MDMA when taken in pill form generally start about 30 minutes after they are taken. It triggers the release of dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine that regulate positive mood and emotion.
The drug has a number of effects including a greater sense of well-being, empathy and extroversion.
Users may also experience haw clenching, teeth grinding, panic attacks and disorientation.
Other effects can include extreme body temperatures, nausea and blurred vision.
An independent pill testing laboratory first tested the drug on February 27 with suspicions it contained MDMA or possibly fentanyl.

They detected that the tablet contained MDMA but not fentanyl.
But different batches of pills that look the same are often circulated meaning the pills in the Gwent area are the same as those tested.
In a separate incident a man became seriously ill after taking Donkey Kong pills in the Gwent Police area.
On April 18, Gwent Police said a 14-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs in connection with Carson’s death.
He was bailed for 28 days while the investigation continues and officers liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service.
