MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Colquitt County man was arrested on Tuesday after police found suspected opioid medication not prescribed to him when officers made a home visit to a convicted sex offender’s residence.

Probation officers and a Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office drug agent stopped at the 167 Unity Lane of Victor Armando Elias at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

“When we got to Mr. Elias’ he was found to be in possession of items he was not supposed to have,” Sgt. Channing McDowell said. “As a sex offender he is not allowed to have any pornographic items. We also came across a box labeled ‘fentanyl.’”

Elias told the officers that he got the substance from an acquaintance when he lived in Florida.

Elias, 62, was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

He also was charged with violating probation in connection with the pornographic material, McDowell said.

Elias was convicted in Florida on Aug. 15, 2018, on a count of lewd or lascivious conduct with a victim under 16, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation sex offender registry website.
