10 Jan Suspected dealer in St. Louis County overdose also faces weapons charge after Facebook photo shows gun | Law and order
ST. LOUIS • A St. Louis man facing a federal gun charge for his Facebook messages has also been accused of dealing a fatal dose of fentanyl to a St. Louis County man last year.
Antonio Adrian Minnis Jr., 26, was indicted Thursday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was charged by complaint Jan. 3 with the same offense after a St. Louis County police detective investigating the July 2018 drug overdose found pictures on Facebook of Minnis with guns, the complaint says.
Minnis is currently on probation after being sentenced in 2015 to a total of six years in prison on drug, theft, domestic assault and weapon charges and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Minnis also “wrote openly” in Facebook messages about selling drugs to at least one person who overdosed on drugs he sold, including the St. Louis County man, charging documents say.
When confronted Jan. 2 by Detective Joe Percich, Minnis admitted selling drugs but denied knowingly selling fentanyl, documents said. He also identified a gun in one of the pictures as a Glock 19 9mm handgun he bought for $100 and later sold.
Minnis’ lawyer, Kristy Ridings, said she had not seen any of the evidence in the case. But she said it was “the first time I’ve seen a case charged with a photo.”
Minnis’ father, Antonio Minnis, is in federal prison serving a nearly 20-year sentence on drug charges. His uncle, heroin kingpin Adrian Minnis, is serving a 35-year sentence.
