21 Apr Thousands gather on Hippie Hill for annual 420 pot festival
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Thousands descended upon Hippie Hill at Golden Gate Park for the annual 420 pot festival.
San Francisco has one of the biggest smoke out sessions where stoners alike can get high and celebrate.
Organizers estimate that at least 20,000 people attended this year’s free event.
The city doubled the number of porta potties, increased security by 30-percent, and had four ambulances to help deal with the larger crowd.
Last year, more than half a dozen people had to be hospitalized after consuming edibles possibly laced with fentanyl.
Officials are warning people to not buy marijuana from unpermitted vendors — instead anyone over 21 years old should buy cannabis from a recreational marijuana dispensary.
Alcohol is not allowed inside the event.
Also, no people under the age of 18 or pets.
And no glass — that pertains to bongs as well as bottles.
