14 Feb Torrington man charged with fentanyl possession
TORRINGTON — After a months-long investigation, police have arrested a Red Mountain Avenue man and charged him with possession of fentanyl with intent to sell.
Hansel Schneider, 53, was also charged with possession of fentanyl in a school zone on Feb. 1.
The Torrington Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at Schneider’s home on Red Mountain Avenue on Feb. 1, “after several months of investigating into the sales and distribution of heroin/fentanyl (in Torrington),” police said in a statement.
Schneider was at the home when the warrant was executed, police said. The search netted approximately 400 bags of fentanyl, according to the release.
Schneider was released after posting his $5,000 bail, judicial records show. He was set to appear in court Monday, but his next court date was unavailable on the judicial site as of Thursday.
