YCSO K9’s Continue to find deadly Fentanyl coming into Yavapai County- Hundreds of Fentanyl Pills Seized along with 10 Pounds of Meth Following Traffic Stop

On February 27, 2019, around 8:30 PM, a YCSO K9 deputy was monitoring traffic on north I17 near Cordes Lakes. As a gray Chrysler 300 travelled passed the deputy, he noticed an equipment violation. The driver exited I17 onto Arcosanti Road and the deputy saw him fail to stop at a stop signed intersection. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, 52-year-old Timothy Milliard from Colorado, was contacted.

During a discussion with the deputy, Milliard exhibited extreme nervousness and concern about the presence the deputy and his backing partner. Based on his training and experience, the deputy believed Milliard was likely in possession of drugs or other contraband and requested a consent to search. Milliard declined. As a result, YCSO’s certified K9 Vader was deployed for an exterior sniff of the sedan and did display an alert on the vehicle.

Based on the alert, deputies began checking the vehicle for the source of the odor. Inside the trunk, deputies opened a cold food bag and found it to contain 10 (1) pound packages of methamphetamine. Further searching of the vehicle interior revealed a bag containing several hundred blue pills similar to others seized recently containing fentanyl. A test at the YCSO evidence facility revealed the 500 blue pills contained fentanyl.

Milliard was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including Transportation of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Transportation of a Narcotic Drug and Possession of a Narcotic Drug. He remains in-custody on a $15,000 bond. Investigation continues – Overall street value of this load exceeds $200,000.

Sheriff Mascher, “I am proud of the work YCSO K9 teams are doing to combat the influx of these deadly drugs into and through Yavapai County and will continue to support the efforts of this dedicated team and our Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking Task force. The work being done here will likely save lives as these illegal drugs will never see the streets.”
