Two accused of cocaine, fentanyl trafficking in Weymouth – News – The Patriot Ledger, Quincy, MA

WEYMOUTH — Police said they found almost an ounce and a half of fentanyl and about an ounce of cocaine after arresting two people in a Weymouth parking lot Thursday.

Max Russo, 28, and Ashley Pinto, 26, both of Weymouth were charged with trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl, trafficking more than 18 grams of cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws and withholding evidence from a criminal proceeding. Russo was additionally charged with three counts of drug possession for testosterone, steroids and Cialis. They are expected to be arraigned in Quincy District Court Friday.

Police said the drugs they seized had a street value of more than $6,500.

Police said they were called about a parked car with steamed windows in the parking lot of the Patriot Village Apartments on Lake Street at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday. Police said Officer Jose Burga found Pinto and Russo asleep in the car, surrounded by spoons. Police said Burga woke the pair up and asked Russo to step out of the car. While stepping out of the car police said a large bag of powder fell out and Russo thew it back into the car at Pinto, who was in the passenger’s seat. Police said Pinto put the bag behind her back and the seat.

Police then arrested the pair. Police said the large bag contained smaller bags containing fentanyl and cocaine. In the car police said they found a scale with powdery residue on it, small baggies, Cialis, testosterone and steroids.

Fentanyl is a potent synthetic opioid cousin of heroin. Police said a fentanyl trafficking charges carries a sentence of up to 20 years in state prison.
