A man and woman from Milwaukee have been charged with giving the controlled substance fentanyl to a Brookfield man, causing his death in 2018.

Kenyon Q. Pugh, 32, and Simona L. Ramirez, 43, were charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on June 10 with first-degree reckless homicide. If convicted, they could each be sentenced up to 40 years in prison.

On August 19, 2018, City of Brookfield police responded to the 1400 block of Mierow Lane for a report of a male who had possibly overdosed.

According to the criminal complaint: Officers located the victim and his wife in a downstairs bathroom. The victim, who was later identified as Adam L. Revolinski, 35, was pronounced deceased. His wife said she found Revolinski unresponsive in the bathroom with a hypodermic needle next to him on the floor.

Revolinski’s wife told police her husband had stepped out for almost two hours that evening. Revolinski informed his wife that he needed to meet with law enforcement to look over photographs of possible suspects in an investigation, which was discovered to be false information. The last contact with law enforcement was two days prior, the complaint said.

Revolinski’s wife told detectives her husband was a past heroin user and had been clean since 2013, the complaint said.

During a search of the bathroom, detectives were able to locate one blue tablet underneath some money. The tablet was later identified by the Wisconsin State Crime Lab as fentanyl.

Multiple text messages were found on a mobile device between Revolinski and Ramirez talking about making arrangements to meet up for a drug transaction. Ramirez purchased pills from Pugh, who was currently under investigation by police. The complaint didn’t state why.

The pills were then given to Revolinski.

A second mobile device was located with “numerous threads of drug talk” speaking of “powder and hard” and “ten 325 Percocet’s”.

Law enforcement contacted Ramirez on Aug. 20 and notified her of

Revolinski’s death. Ramirez said Revolinski started texting her earlier in the day on Aug. 19, asking her if she could find someone selling pills for him.

Ramirez said in the complaint she told him that she couldn’t find any. Ramirez stated that Revolinski kept texting her throughout the day, asking her to keep trying. Ramirez thought Revolinski was in a lot of pain so she decided to help him. She arranged a drug transaction with Pugh and gave the purchased pills to Revolinski.

During a search of Pugh’s home Aug. 22, hundreds of prescription pills were recovered, including numerous light-blue pills with the markings of 30 mg Oxycodone. These pills were later tested and identified as containing fentanyl. A cellphone was recovered along with a firearm and $12,180 in cash.

The Waukesha County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death for Revolinski to be opioid intoxication, the complaint said.
