Woman Brought Drugs Hidden In Vagina To Delco Prison: DA

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — A Delaware County woman is facing charges after allegedly smuggling fentanyl in her vagina into the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in March.

District Attorney Katayoun Copeland said Emily Dougherty, 25, of Ridley Park, has been charged with one felony count possession of contraband – fentanyl, one count of possession of a controlled substance, and one count possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest comes after the Dougherty arrived to serve her 48-hour continued sentence from a prior arrest and was found to be in possession of fentanyl by the George W. Hill Correctional Facility staff, according to the DA’s office.

Dougherty’s bail was set at 10 percent of $25,000, the DA’s office said.

Dougherty on March 5 arrived at the prison to serve 48 hours of a previously imposed weekend sentence.

The facility received information that Dougherty was in possession of illegal contraband and removed Dougherty from her cell.

A search of Dougherty by a female correctional officer revealed that Dougherty had concealed multiple glassine bags containing suspected controlled substances in her vaginal cavity, the DA’s office said.

Forensic analysis revealed that the nine bags recovered from Dougherty contained fentanyl and valeryl fentanyl, the DA’s office said.
