The father of a 1-year-old who died in Colerain Township after swallowing drugs found in her home had an emotional appearance in court Friday.In January, chaos broke out in the Colerain Township home.The family of 1-year-old Reagan Worthington called police in a panic when they found her unresponsive.When authorities arrived, they found Reagan had ingested drugs and they continued to find more drugs in the home”Those drugs included heroin, methamphetamine, also fentanyl. The drug which little Reagan ingested was fentanyl,” Prosecutor Anne Flanagan said.She was in the care of her father, Anthony Worthington.Worthington pleaded guilty to endangering children, tampering with evidence, aggravated trafficking and involuntary manslaughter.”The little child was only 13 months in age and she was in his care,” Flanagan said.Worthington tried to keep authorities from finding the drugs.”He dragged yet another child in the home, a teenager, to take this bag of drugs and to dispose of it in the toilet. Police interrupted that before she was able to complete that,” Flanagan said.Worthington was emotional throughout Friday’s court appearance. Continually crying and telling the judge, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”He became even more emotional as the facts continued to be read.Worthington now faces up to 21 years in prison.Judge Sylvia Sieve Hendon said, “Mr. Worthington, I understand the child was your child. It appears to me that there is very little by way of sentencing that can be any worse than the loss of your child basically by your own hand.”Worthington’s sentencing is set for June 19 at 9 a.m.He was facing 10 charges and pleaded guilty to five.Even after a potential 21 years in prison and more than $50,000 in fines, he would face five years of mandatory probation.
