LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police, with the help of a clever K9, halted a dangerous drug operation in its tracks.

According to a post on the LMPD Facebook page, the Major Crimes Unit in Narcotics intercepted a “trap car” from Miami that was carrying thousands of fake pills.

K9-Franklin found the trap containing 20,000 fake Xanax pills hidden in the Dodge Ram’s spare tire compartment. The pill bottles were wrapped in plastic bags.

According to LMPD, the pills – which were marked as Xanax – were actually Fentanyl pills that were intended to be dumped in the Louisville area.

The estimated street value of the drugs was over $200,000.

The two people in the van were arrested.
