It is so common in the drug supply now,” Hamilton County Heroin Coalition Co-Chair and Newtown Police Chief Tom Synan said. “The United States is in an addiction epidemic, but has a fentanyl crisis.”Synan said over the past year, fentanyl has been showing up in crack cocaine and methamphetamine as well.Just last month, Heroin Task Force commander Tom Fallon spoke on the issue after 11 suspected overdoses were reported.”People have to use caution they have to have narcan available and be aware no matter what recreational drug they’re using could be risking their life,” Fallon said.As the weather gets nicer, health officials said they suspect overdoses will increase. It isn’t clear right now how many of the overdoses resulted in deaths.
