Police chase leads to fentanyl stash | News, Sports, Jobs

According to the East Liverpool police report, officer Christopher Green was patrolling near Ambrose Avenue at 7:03 p.m. Friday when he came across a sedan with dark tinted windows. As Green’s cruiser passed the sedan in the opposite direction, the car then sped east on Ambrose Avenue at a high rate of speed and turned right onto Laura Avenue without using a turn signal.

The chase continued at a high rate of speed down Bradshaw Avenue where the sedan pulled into the Giant Eagle parking lot and stopped and the driver jumped out and attempted to run.

According to the report, at that point Green told the man to stop running and get on the ground. The man, identified as James Greenlee, 34, of Maryland, fell to the ground a short distance later and was unable to get up before Green approached.

Green pulled his taser and told Greenlee to stay on the ground or he would be tased. Green then called for assistance from other officers. When additional police arrived they placed Greenlee in handcuffs and deployed K-9 Nero to sniff the vehicle.

Nero alerted to the vehicle on the passenger side front door and also on the driver’s side door. Police opened the vehicle and could smell a strong odor of marijuana, the report stated.

During the search police found a wallet inside the vehicle that belonged to a woman reported missing from Maryland.

Greenlee was found to have several felony warrants out of Maryland and he was arrested and taken to the county jail where he will be extradited to Maryland.

East Liverpool police said on the department’s Facebook page that Greenlee had prior arrests for false imprisonment, burglary, sexual assault, and multiple drug offenses. He was also considered armed and dangerous.

As for the missing woman, the investigation led police to the Vista Motel where she was found in one of the rooms.

According to the police report, city patrolman Tony Savina spoke with the motel manager about the complaint and police were directed to room 5 where they found Christopher Ingram, 36, and Samantha Olsavsky, 38, addresses not listed, who said the missing woman was in room 2.

Police found Ingram and Olsavsky to both have warrants out for their arrest, with Ingram’s through Columbiana County and Olsavsky through Cuyahoga County. They were both placed in custody and taken to the police station.

Officer Green spoke with the woman in room 2 who was said to be missing and she said it was a misunderstanding and she was there on her own free will.

The woman — who was not identified in the report — told police she had called the law enforcement agency in Maryland but they would not take her out of being missing over the phone.

Police said on social media that “a very large amount” of suspected fentanyl and a multitude of different drug paraphernalia were discovered in a room at the motel.
